Hello everyone.

As we plan our private beta, we’ve decided it is time to express some of the concepts behind Joodo. We are look forward to getting the application to our beta users so that we can address your concerns, fix bugs, listen to feature requests, and discuss our upgrade path. We are currently working on some very cool features that won’t be in the current beta release but are planned for future versions.

We just don’t want to create some cool features or “technology for technology’s sake”. We want to build a real company that fundamentally changes the way that people manage their data and solve some real problem points for users. We’re gonna work our tail off to make this a useful app for you.

I’m going to give a few more details about Joodo….some idea of what we’re working on here.

Joodo is a hybrid web/desktop peer to peer social networking application designed to help people manage and share data in a self-empowering environment.

Joodo’s mission is to help users organize, manage, search for their data on the desktop and make it easily shareable. As the world’s first p2p social networking platform, we want to leverage our technology to create a new platform for sharing data. Joodo also includes a p2p search engine for locating data exclusively in your personal network. This is a next-generation decentralized social networking platform for creating personal sharing networks. Some people think of it as hybrid web/desktop app for sharing files. Some people think of it as a decentralized social network.  We would like to think we are building a new effective and efficient way to organize, share, and search for data in a decentralized network that is self-empowering.

The reality is that although our goals are ambitious, we aren’t going completely nail this in our first public release. In our small private alpha tests, we’ve noticed features that were unnecessary, features that were under-baked, bugs that we missed, etc.  We’re also completely re-analizing the platform. We want to make sure that we deliver on being the easiest, safest, and fastest way to deliver files to your trusted network and though we’re working on it… we have a lot of work to do.

We’re now working on demo videos and also gui modifications to make the application much easier to use.

I just want to thank Silvain for his review of Joodo. He even produced a nice video demo that I’ve embedded below.
